Polishing vs. Refinishing
While concrete polishing is a buffing process that can be scheduled in regular intervals for easy maintenance, it’s not the same process as completely refinishing the floor. Refinishing concrete is an entirely different and labor-intensive process that involves a specialized industrial diamond pad attached to a high-powered floor grinder. The diamond dust wears down the top layer of concrete and creates a freshly exposed surface to re-treat with a sealant. Resurfacing is required when a floor is too damaged for polishing or needs to be leveled and/or repaired.
Polishing, on the other hand, is faster and less invasive. Our team can evaluate whether your floor is a good candidate for polishing without the more significant work of refinishing. Currently, Knight Janitorial Services can remove and apply concrete sealant, but we do not refinish actual concrete due to the specialized tools and labor required. Our focus is preventative and regular maintenance of polished floors to keep your costs at a minimum and avoid the necessary business downtime needed when completely resurfacing a floor.
